At Translate. One, we believe that the heart of our company is our people. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our Meet the Team blog series, where we’ll be highlighting a different team member in each post!
In this fun and engaging series, we ask each team member 15 questions—from their favorite hobbies to the best advice they’ve ever received. It’s a lighthearted way to get to know the incredible individuals who help us deliver top-notch translation and localization services every day.
Next one on our list is our Sales Director, Robertino Monaco!
1. Robertino, where are you located?
I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
2. How long have you been with the company?
Since February 2022 with inWhatLanguage and since March 2023 with Translate.One.
3. How long have you been working in the localization industry?
2 years and 9 months 🤓
4. What does your role entail?
Basically, make new prospects appear like magic (big companies), set up tons of meetings, and get them to fall in love with our service.
5.What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love working in such a diverse industry, where no two projects are ever the same, and especially getting the chance to connect with so many people from all over and vibe with their cultures.
6. Can you tell us about your educational background and how it contributed to where you are today?
I studied Marketing and Business Administration, which really helps me nail my tasks every day. Plus, I’m the type who’s always up for learning more and figuring out the hacks of the human mind to spark interest in our services and, ultimately, boost the company’s sales!
7. What’s a fun fact about you that not many people know?
My girlfriend’s from Brazil, so I had to use all my tricks to learn Portuguese and get her to fall for me – guess it paid off since we’ve been going strong for almost 7 years!
8. What’s your favorite activity or hobby outside of work?
I’m passionate about sports, particularly going to the gym, and I have a deep love for music – especially singing and playing the guitar!
9. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I’ve always loved the movie Jumper, so if I had a superpower, it would definitely be the ability to teleport anywhere in the world. Especially to finally meet so many people I only know through a screen in real life!
10. What’s your favorite book, movie, or TV show?
I’m not sure if I have an all-time favorite book, but one I read recently and really liked is Atomic Habits by James Clear – it’s helped me improve in several areas, both professionally and personally (I definitely recommend it!). As for movies, Interstellar is my top pick, and for series, Friends and Breaking Bad are my favorites.
11. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
It’s tough to pick just one place, but I’d love to spend more time in the U.S. and take a road trip (I’ve only visited NYC and Florida so far).
12. What’s your proudest accomplishment (personal or professional)?
I think it’s a bit subjective and hard to define, but I strive to make a positive mark and be a genuinely good person in every area of life—with family, friends, and colleagues. I always try to give my best, even on tough days, to leave a positive impact on those around me. It may sound subjective, but I believe this is more meaningful than any material or financial achievement. In the end, people won’t remember us for what we had but for how we made them feel and the impact we left on them.
13. Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them.
Yes, we have two beautiful Maltese dogs: Gaia (from Brazil) and Nala (from Argentina). They usually love to be involved and heard during my meetings!
14. Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?
“He can who thinks he can, and he can’t who thinks he can’t. This is an inexorable, indisputable law.” ― Pablo Picasso
15. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Enjoy life and do whatever makes you happy, as long as you’re not bothering anyone else.
